Social Worker – Disabled Children’s Service
Pay Rate: £35.00p/h
Islington’s Disabled Children’s Service is looking for an experienced and passionate Locum Social Worker to join their dynamic team.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated professional to support children and families in Islington, specifically working with disabled children and their families.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality social work services, conducting assessments, and providing tailored support to children with disabilities and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working within a safeguarding framework, screening referrals, and gatekeeping cases with the support of the management team, ensuring that families receive the most appropriate level of intervention.
- Conducting comprehensive assessments to understand the needs, strengths, and risks of children and families, and developing intervention plans that improve outcomes.
- Managing a varied caseload, including Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Children Looked After (CLA) cases, and children who require overnight short breaks (ONSB).
- Collaborating with external agencies, schools, health professionals, and other services to provide coordinated support for children with complex needs.
- Offering support and advice to families, ensuring that children with additional needs have access to essential services and resources.
- Participating in monthly supervision with your line manager, as well as group supervisions and fortnightly team meetings to foster professional development and support.
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children with disabilities in Islington through timely intervention and effective case management.
Essential Requirements:
- A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
- SWE Registration.
- Experience working with children and families in a social work setting, particularly those with disabilities and additional needs.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage a complex caseload and prioritise tasks effectively.
- A proactive, empathetic, and solution-focused approach to practice.
