This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to support the safeguarding of young people at risk of contextual harm.

The Role:

The Adolescent Safeguarding Team provides statutory social work services to young people at risk of contextual harm, including assessments, child in need, child protection, and court proceedings. The team is part of the Specialist Adolescent Service, which collaborates closely with the Youth Justice Team, Substance Misuse Service, and Prevention Teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver statutory social work services for adolescents at risk, including child in need, child protection, and court proceedings.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and create safety plans to mitigate risks.
  • Work closely with multi-agency partners, including the Youth Justice Team, Substance Misuse Service, and Prevention Teams.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior social workers, ensuring high-quality practice across the team.
  • Support the team in navigating a transition period and ensure the continuation of high-quality services.
  • Provide expert advice on complex safeguarding cases, contributing to decision-making processes.

What Achieving for Children is Looking For:

  • An experienced Senior Social Worker with expertise in adolescent safeguarding and statutory social work.
  • HCPC (or Social Work England) registered and qualified.
  • A strong understanding of working with adolescents at risk of contextual harm.
  • Proven ability to manage complex safeguarding cases, including court proceedings and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Leadership skills to support and develop junior staff.
  • Excellent time management, report writing, and case management skills.

Why Join Achieving for Children?

  • The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people at risk of harm.
  • Join a dedicated team within the Specialist Adolescent Service, working alongside the Youth Justice and Substance Misuse Teams.
