A Local Authority in Kent is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their Fostering Team, specifically working with Connected Carers. Offering a competitive rate of up to £38 per hour, this role provides an excellent opportunity to support foster carers who are relatives or close connections of children in need.

About the Role:

As a Qualified Social Worker in the Connected Carers Team, you will be responsible for assessing and supporting family members and close friends who become foster carers for children. Your role will include conducting assessments, providing training and guidance, and ensuring that carers can meet the emotional, physical, and safeguarding needs of the children in their care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out assessments and provide ongoing support to connected carers (family members and close friends) who are fostering children.
  • Ensure that all assessments and reviews are compliant with fostering regulations and best practices.
  • Work closely with children’s services, partner agencies, and foster carers to ensure children are placed in safe, supportive homes.
  • Provide training, supervision, and guidance to foster carers to help them meet the needs of the children in their care.
  • Monitor the progress and well-being of children in connected carer placements and ensure timely interventions where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Qualified social worker with experience in fostering, connected carers, or children’s services.
  • Social Work England registered.
  • Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, child protection legislation, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
